A Mighty River

⬥⬥⬥
The Colorado River extends all the way from the state of Colorado stretching up to Northern Mexico, a span of over 1400 miles. Headwaters of the mighty river start high up Rocky Mountain National Park, flowing South and West towards the Colorado Plateau before making its way through the scenic Grand Canyon, eventually emptying itself into the Gulf of California between the Baja Peninsula and the Sonoran Desert.

The Colorado River gained its name when Spanish explorers discovered the redness in the river which transferred down from the mountain’s scarlet soil.

When in Colorado…

⬥⬥⬥
Rocky Mountain National Park is a no brainer when it comes to visiting the North American landscape. Upon exploring the grounds, you’ll find the first trails act as connections to archaeological sites, while others escape seamlessly into nature.

Overtime, engineers collaborated with landscape architects to craft specific trails using natural elements of the environment like soil, rocks, and wood of the area. The Longs Peak Trail is a well known historic path in the park that stretches up to Longs Peak, a mountain summit with a height of 14,259 feet!

Gone Fishin’ Yet?

⬥⬥⬥
Wherever one chooses to fish on the Colorado River, you will surely land a catch of trout! Browns, brook trout, rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, and even rainbow/cutthroat hybrids can be found along the waters of the river from La Poudre Pass Lake all the way to Ruby Canyon and Fruita.
